New website thanks to RapidWeaver 5

RapidWeaver 5 is a powerful web design and publishing app for Mac. Whether you are an experienced web designer or looking for an alternative to the ageing Apple iWeb, RapidWeaver is for you.

I’ve been playing around with RapidWeaver for a while now and I am very impressed with how minimum effort can produce beautiful looking websites. For a simple blog, or an online shop, RapidWeaver is very customisable and can help make your website stand out. To start, you can select a premade website theme to get you underway fast, or for the more advanced website designers you can make your own.

The default themes are basic however, to get the most out of RapidWeaver you should check out the online theme and add-on marketplace or shop around at different theme websites. Here you can find more advanced and impressive themes and addons to use for your website. There are free community addons and many that charge. Most 3rd party themes allow you to customise the design as well allowing you to make each page individual.

Getting StartedPreview mode on RapidWeaver

The website allows you to write content (or code for the advanced users), and then instantly preview your progress without going through the publish procedure. This is my favourite feature as it is so useful to see check over your post as a proof read and to see how it loads up in the browser.

Once your website is made you will need to Publish your website. You can do this very easily within the app to many popular hosting sites, you can also share to MobileMe although Apple are closing the service down soon so it is best to find a server. The first FTP publish takes some time to upload onto the web. Each time you make some changes on your site after the first publish RaidWeaver intelligently updates the changed files making it very fast.
